2004 Texas state quarter, 2005.
In early 2005 I submitted an application for the US Mint's "Artistic Infusion Program". The official application included an assignment to design a ficticious Texas state quarter, based upon a Texas wildlife theme. The purpose of the assignment was to give the Mint a means to evaluate the capabilities of the artists applying for the program. The design I submitted is shown below.
A Burrowing Owl stands with an Agave Havardiana plant int he distance.
A Monarch Butterfly rests on an Upright Prairie Coneflower.
A large star with six outlines symbolizes the six flags of Texas.
