VScad3 File Menu

2.1.5 Export.

"File / Export => DXF..." : This will export a ".dxf" file. Only the following basic VScad3 geometry types are exported: Polyline, Polygon, Surface, Solid, Annotation. Other entity types in the current model (if present) are not exported.

"File / Export => Triangles..." : Use this menu to export a polygon mesh to a "triangle" (".stl") file. Only the following basic VScad3 geometry types are exported to ".stl" files: Polygon, Surface, Solid. All instances of these three types of entities currently in the CAD model will be exported.

"File / Export => VRML..." : This will export the current model entities to a VRML (".wrl") file.

"File / Export => Depth Surface..." : This will save a depth surface ".vs3" file. The ".vs3 files are a proprietary binary format native to VS3D. For each screen pixel in the geometry window, the depth to the closest visible geometry is computed. These "depths" are then converted into a relief surface. The output depth surface XY dimensions, as measured in the number of grid points, is twice the size of the current geometry window (in pixels). For best resolution, the current Workspace Region settings ("Z" min/max) should be set as close (narrow) as possible without causing Z clipping of the geometry. The "Auto Adjust" button in the Workspace Region dialog will compute appropriate settings. After the Workspace Region is set appropriately, the view may be panned, zoomed, and rotated as desired before exporting the depth surface. To set the Workspace Region, select the main "Workspace / Region..." menu. The ".vs3" files can be loaded into VS3D as relief-surface sculpture files.
