Virtual Sculptor is an innovative CAD/CAM application designed for optimal performance in relief surface sculpting and 3-axis machining. Traditional CAD/CAM systems tend to bog down on the large amount of data required to represent a detailed sculpted surface. Virtual Sculptor uses an efficient internal data representation, allowing it to manipulate complex relief surfaces with ease. This has many benefits, including the ability to visualize the cutting results of proposed tool paths before any material is actually cut. The software consists of two basic interconnected parts. The main module is for virtual relief sculpting and 3-axis machining (VS3D). The auxiliary CAD module (VScad3) is a traditional CAD program which represents 3D shapes using polyline and polygon (vector) geometry.

Choose a cutting tool and tool path parameters. Output standard “G” code and view the simulated cutting results !

Sculpting

Hammering:
Type: user-defined hammer shape.
Modifiers: smooth, Z profile, ramp, crosshatch, texture.
Application: each mouse click is a hammer blow.

Region of Interest (ROI):
Types: freehand, polygon, spline, contour, text/font.
Modifiers: flip, swap in/out, feather, expand/contract, perimeter, skeleton.
Applications: plateau, bulge, ramp, chisel, smooth, translate, scale, rotate, linear/angular replication,
nesting.

Warp:
Types: XY vectors, Z vectors.
Applications: XY elastic stretch, Z triangulation.

Undo:
Undo last sculpture operation,
undo last ROI change,
undo last warp vector.

Automatic anti-aliasing algorithms for reducing "stair-stepping" artifacts.

Zoom in/out, profile plotting,

Machining
